Weston has grown. Emergency calls have grown with it.
Emergency response resources have not increased since 2014.
As a result:
• More than 100 mutual aid requests each year
• Increasing response times
• More medical emergencies exceeding 10minutes before help arrives
• Weston previously had two water tenders. Today, only one is guaranteed to respond.
This referendum allows Weston to invest in maintaining reliable emergency response performance as our community grows.
What This Investment Does
A YES vote supports measurable improvements in public safety performance:
• Reduce reliance on outside agencies by approximately 80 percent
• Reduce medical calls exceeding 10minutes by approximately 80 percent
• Restore a second water tender toreliable, guaranteed service to protect neighborhoods without fire hydrants.
• Improve on-scene effectiveness when residents call 911
This is about response time, reliability, and measurable outcomes, but most importantly, your safety.
What It Costs
The proposed investment is $600,000 annually.
Estimated impact: approximately $0.34 per$1,000 of assessed home value.
For a $300,000 home, that isapproximately a $102 annual investment in your safety.
What Happens If It Fails
• Mutual aid reliance remains high
• Response times continue to increase
• Emergency demand continues to outpaceavailable resources
Emergency personnel will continue toprovide the best service possible within current constraints. However, responsereliability and performance standards will remain strained as the communitycontinues to grow.
Why This Matters
When someone calls 911, they are notasking for “close enough.”
They expect help fast.
Seconds matter in cardiac arrest.
Seconds matter in house fires.
Seconds matter in serious crashes.
This referendum ensures Weston keeps pacewith growth and maintains dependable emergency response performance for everyresident.
