President's message

On behalf of the proud men and women of Wausau Professional Firefighters - Local 415,

I would like to express my deepest gratitude for your continued support, trust, and partnership. We are honored to serve you, not just in times of crisis, but every single day.

I want you to know that we are more than a fire department. We are a family, and like any strong family, we are committed to protecting what matters most: life, safety, and the future of this community. During this time my goals have been simple: safeguard the members of this Local’s rights to fair wages, equal pay and the best working conditions possible. These rights are important to uphold, day in and out, to serve the city with diligence and professional service, as any citizen should expect.

When Wausau Professional Firefighters arrive for a 48-hour shift, place our gear on the rigs, and respond to structure fires, medical emergencies, car accidents, or rescues, we carry a heavy weight of responsibility with us. We don’t take our duties lightly. We train relentlessly, prepare thoroughly, and stand ready 24/7, because you, your families, your homes, and your businesses matter to us. You are our neighbors, our friends, and the reason we wear our uniforms with the utmost pride.

In recent years, the job of a firefighter has grown more complex. We face increased risks from fires that burn hotter and faster, medical emergencies that are more frequent and at times more dangerous, and environmental challenges that test our limits. Despite these growing dangers, our commitment has never wavered. We rise to meet these challenges from the very day when we swore to take an oath to serve and protect.

Our charitable 501c3, Wausau Firefighters Community Assistance Foundation (WFCAF) was created in 2018 and has a mission to provide assistance through charitable efforts to those individuals or organizations in the community during times of hardship, loss or other unmet need. As full-time professional firefighters and paramedics, we respond to approximately 7000 911 calls annually within the City of Wausau and surrounding townships.  By doing this, we are in a unique position to see individuals both at their very worst and at their very best. This foundation is a proud embodiment of the character Wausau Local 415 firefighters uniquely possess.

We are proud to serve, protect, and call this community our home.

“The mission of the Wausau Firefighters Community Assistance Foundation (WFCAF) shall be to provide assistance through charitable efforts to those individuals or organizations in the community during times of hardship, loss or other unmet needs.”

Statement of Cause

As full-time professional firefighters and paramedics, we respond to over 7,000 911 calls annually within the City of Wausau and surrounding townships.

By doing this, we are in a unique position to see individuals both at their very worst and at their very best.  This allows us to identify and address the needs of the community on an individual basis.  We intend to do just that, by seeking funds to have at our disposal to donate directly to the individual as well as to fund and initiate various community projects brought to the Foundation by members of this fire department and members of the community.

Every Firefighter who works for the Wausau Fire Department is in direct view of the public on a daily basis.  This gives the WFCAF a distinct advantage in terms of public recognition.  We believe that this visibility will greatly increase our ability to raise funds for our worthy causes.
