Green Bay Packers and The Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin have
teamed together in what will be called the Safety Blitz project to help protect
Wisconsin school children.
will provide over 900,000 child ID kits to all Kindergarten through 12th
grade students starting in the fall of 2015.
Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin will start the statewide “Fill the
Helmet” campaign this summer to support the Safety Blitz project by
helping to raise funds and awareness.
“Fire Fighters are highly respected in our communities and their help is
always just a phone call away,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. “We are honored that they have teamed with us
to help lead the effort protecting children in this great state.”
“The PFFW is grateful
for the opportunity to partner with the Green Bay Packers on this important
initiative to protect Wisconsin's Children,” said Mahlon Mitchell, president of the
Professional Fire Fighters of Wisconsin.

It is with deepest regret and sorrow to report the line-of-duty death of Lieutenant Michael Miller of IAFF Local 141 - Green Bay, Wisconsin. Brother Miller, 45, passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from heart complications.
The Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, June 29, 2015 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 3425 Willow Road, Green Bay, Wisconsin 54311, (920) 468-5718. The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. also at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. A block of rooms has been reserved for Sunday, June 28, 2015 at the AmericINN Lodge and Suites, 2628 Manitowoc Road, Green Bay, Wisconsin, (920) 964-0177 under the group name Lt. Miller Funeral.

On 2-25-2015, Lieutenant Scott Schumacher (Shoe), 41 years of age, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer. For a number of years, Lt. Schumacher has battled bouts of cancer with ultimately succumbing to his cancer today. Scott began his career with the Kenosha Fire Department on September 1, 1998. He was promoted to Lieutenant February 1, 2010. Throughout Scott's career he was an active union member, serving a number of years on Kenosha Local 414's Executive Board. He leaves behind his wonderful wife and 3 young children. Please keep Scott's family, in your thoughts and prayers. RIP Brother Schumacher.

Eau Claire firefighters mourn loss of crew member after fight with cancer
Eau Claire (WQOW) - With flags at half-staff, the Eau Claire Fire Department is remembering one of its own.
Waterman, a 16 year veteran of the fire department, lost her battle
with cancer yesterday. To her firefighter brothers and sisters, Denise
was known for her kind and generous spirit.
Described as an artist
by her colleagues, who say her love of animals, especially dogs and
horses, drove her compassion in her career. She spent much of her Eau
Claire career as an engineer and paramedic on Medic 10.
firefighters have been there with her husband and her family throughout
the whole thing so it has been something that has impacted everyone
quite greatly. Now, with the loss of her, that impact is felt even more
deeply," Allyn Bertrang, Deputy Chief with the Eau Claire Fire
A couple of weeks ago we told you about a group
of firefighters who are running in the Eau Claire marathon on Sunday in
full gear to raise money for cancer research. Those firefighters say
they will be running in Denise's honor.
It is with great sadness that the Grand Chute
Fire Department announces the passing of Fire Prevention Specialist
Jesse T. Pickett.
Jesse and his family were involved in motor
vehicle crash while returning from a family gathering in the Wisconsin
Dells area on Sunday December 8, 2013. As a result of injuries
sustained in the crash, Jesse passed away at the scene. His wife and
two daughters were also injured and transported to a Madison area
Jesse began his career
with the Grand Chute Fire Department in February, 2009 as our Fire
Prevention Specialist. Jesse was the department's Public Information
Officer and was instrumental in working with the media. His tremendous
passion for promoting public education in our schools and at many
community events was evident through his dedication and strong
commitment to his firefighting career.
Our department, the
community, and his many friends are at a deep loss with his passing. Our
hearts go out to his wife, children, extended family, and the many
others which are affected as a result of this tragedy.

employees. Funeral arrangements are pending at this time.
